Intensive park-style rooftop terrace at the Vivido residential complex in Cluj-Napoca

The semi-intensive green roof installed on the terrace of a sports hall in Sibiu was designed as a balance between structural resilience and visual impact. It is not a decorative space in the classical sense, but rather a surface that needs to look good when viewed from the street while also withstanding a fairly harsh environment: strong sun exposure, wind, and significant temperature fluctuations.

The vegetation layer is dominated by sedum, chosen for its ability to adapt easily and create a stable green carpet with minimal maintenance. To break the monotony and add volume, several conifers were planted along the edges, strategically positioned. These are visible from the street below and provide a constant green presence throughout the year, regardless of the season.

The design does not try to be more than it is, but it does its job: it softens the building, adds a layer of greenery to a built-up area, and transforms a technical terrace into an element that truly matters visually. It is the kind of discreet yet effective intervention that changes the perception of the entire building.
