About decorative lichens and moss

Lichens are a combination of a fungus and an alga, giving them exceptional resilience, allowing them to grow on soil, rocks, wood, or even tree bark. This origin allows them to adapt to different spaces, including closed and dark areas. Lichen species are diverse, offering multiple patterns and colors, from white to gray, with Cladonia stellaris being the most commonly used. The variety allows interior decoration specialists and architects to unleash their creativity, letting nature claim a corner of the desired space.

Lichens are 100% natural, harvested mainly in northern forests near the Arctic Circle. They cannot be cultivated, and their presence indicates extremely clean air.

They are hand-picked with great care due to their fragility. The most difficult process is cleaning impurities like pine needles, leaves, etc. Subsequently, their natural colors are enhanced using non-toxic food-grade pigments.

It should be noted that they do not have a uniform color, but this actually gives them special decorative value. Colors only change if exposed to direct sunlight or if the room humidity is inappropriate. Alongside lichens, we also enjoy the originality of decorative moss.

Selection is an extremely complex and important process, producing high-quality products. They are then processed, purified, and preserved, and easily attached to the desired surface with suitable adhesive. Where to place them?

It is essential that they are placed in properly climate-controlled rooms to maintain their color and flexibility. Low humidity causes shrinkage and rigidity, requiring restoration to normal relative humidity. High humidity enhances colors and slightly increases volume. Not recommended outdoors in direct sunlight, rain, or wind. They can also be placed in low-light or dark areas.
