Green roof with irrigated lawn and green façades at the Arad Casino

We were proud to contribute to the restoration of the historic Arad Casino, one of the city’s architectural landmarks, where we had the opportunity to transform its green areas into a contemporary landscape designed to meet modern requirements.

The complex’s event hall is located below ground level, and above its dome we installed an intensive green roof with an irrigated lawn covering more than 400 square meters. To maintain a healthy and uniform lawn, an automated drip irrigation system was installed, allowing this elevated garden to blend seamlessly into the surrounding park landscape.

In addition to the green roof above the dome, we also enhanced the concrete retaining walls surrounding the structure. These were transformed into green façades with ivy, using young plants that, with time and proper maintenance, will completely cover the concrete surfaces. To guide the growth of the climbing plants, we implemented our proprietary ODU cable guidance system, a technology developed by ODU and successfully used in numerous other projects.

The result is a project that demonstrates how nature can enhance the character of a historic building, transforming rigid architectural elements into a living and welcoming environment.
