Flexible multilayer modular system made of organic and synthetic technical textile materials, designed for creating green façades with semi-hydroponic crops on vertical surfaces.

Fytotextile® is an advanced technological solution for green façades, a patented modular system developed by Terapia Urbana in collaboration with the University of Seville. The system is specifically designed for medium and large-scale projects, offering an optimal balance between plant health and ease of installation.

Multilayer structure and technology

The core element of the system is the flexible module made of three technical layers, with a total thickness of only 20 mm:

• Outer layer (breathable): Allows constant airflow to the roots, facilitating evapotranspiration and preventing overheating.
• Intermediate layer (irrigation): Ensures uniform water distribution and retains the moisture necessary for optimal plant development.
• Rear layer (waterproof): An integrated membrane that protects the support structure against water infiltration.

• Plant health: The design ensures an ideal water–air–substrate balance, significantly improving vegetation vitality.
• Strength and durability: The modules have tensile strength 10 times higher than the maximum operational load and are resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
• Fire safety: The system holds the European fire classification B-s2, d0.
• Efficiency: Water consumption is optimized between 2 and 6 l/m², while the saturated system weight is low, between 28 and 35 kg/m².
• High planting density: Supports 36 to 49 plants per square meter, ensuring rapid visual coverage.

System components

For flawless operation, Fytotextile® integrates the following elements:

1. Metal structure: Galvanized steel profiles sized for each project.
2. Fytotextile® modules: Textile pockets for semi-hydroponic cultivation where plants are inserted with their own substrate.
3. Automated irrigation system: Includes drip lines accessible via the upper flange of the modules for easy maintenance.
4. Water collection: Steel or aluminum gutters connected to the drainage system.

Customization options

Depending on project requirements, the following variants are available:

• Fytotextile-FR®: Module with enhanced fire resistance.
• Fytotextile-C+®: Designed for very hot climates, with increased water retention capacity.
• Custom dimensions: In addition to standard sizes, modules can be manufactured in custom shapes and dimensions to fit any architectural design.
