Industrial office buildings are often condemned to a grey existence: concrete, glass, straight lines, and very little life. The Sedum roll green roof project at Term Metal Ploiești proves exactly the opposite.

Here, the three terraces were transformed into extensive green roofs that completely change the perception of the building, without affecting its functionality or technical rigor.

Although the same type of Sedum vegetation mat—locally acclimatized and grown in our own nursery—was used on all terraces during installation, time and orientation have played their part. Different exposure to sunlight, wind, and moisture has favored certain Sedum species, resulting not in artificial uniformity but in a natural, subtle, ever-changing mosaic.

In spring, fresh green shades emerge; in summer, the colors deepen and become denser; during drier periods, the vegetation retreats in a controlled manner without compromising the system, shifting into coral-red tones.

From a technical perspective, performance is ensured through carefully calibrated maintenance: seasonally adjusted fertilization, rapid removal of invasive plants, and manual irrigation only when nature truly needs support (2–3 times per month between June and August).

The result is an office building that breathes, evolves with the seasons, and proves that industrial spaces do not have to be monotonous—they can become a living part of the urban landscape.
