Using a vegetation blanket/carpet in a landscape design on a green roof provides an immediately installed green terrace, without waiting 3–5 years as in the case of planting seedlings or sowing, while also saving the cost of planting followed by long, expensive, and complex maintenance.

The sedum carpet contains mature plants with at least 95% surface coverage upon delivery, making maintenance easier. There is no need for replanting or regular maintenance as required with other methods for extensive green roofs.
