Landscaping a green area around a building that is still under construction just a few days before opening is always a challenge.

The complexity of the work was not only due to the scale of the project – 1,650 m² of lawn with an irrigation system, 90 trees measuring 4–5 m, and several hundred climbing plants positioned on the metal structure of the nearly 1,200 m² green wall, approximately 9 m high – but also because, as usual, there was a constant struggle for the working space, crowded by dozens of construction teams. Despite this, we managed to complete all stages ahead of schedule, and today it is a welcoming green oasis.

This type of green wall is among the first in the country in terms of height, surface area, and the size of the climbing plants installed (375/400 cm), and it is also a premiere for the client, Kaufland Aurel Vlaicu in Cluj-Napoca.

It is a green façade system where the climbing plants – ivy and wild grape – are guided on a load-bearing metal structure, with a carefully calculated network designed to cover the entire planned surface in a short time.

Update: after 1 year

One year after installation, the green façade composed of ivy and wild vine already shows visible development, with the plants firmly anchoring to the support structure and partially covering the surface. The texture becomes increasingly rich, while the shades of green begin to create a natural and cohesive appearance.

Update: after 5 years

After five years, the façade reaches a coverage of 70–80%, with dense and mature foliage that gives the building a spectacular and organic character. The plants develop harmoniously, providing shading, natural cooling, and a strong visual impact, completely transforming the exterior aesthetics.
