Biosolar roof for a new kindergarten in Avrig

We succeeded in transforming the roof of the new kindergarten in Avrig into a living space that blends naturally into the green landscape surrounding the town’s medieval center.

The project was designed to respect the spirit of the place while offering children a tangible example of sustainability right above their classrooms. The generous Sedum layer not only looks impressive but also acts as a natural thermal barrier, maintaining a comfortable indoor climate regardless of how unpredictable the weather may be.

The most interesting aspect is that this is a biosolar roof, where vegetation and renewable energy work together. We installed the Sedum mat beneath the solar panels as well, taking advantage of their mutual benefits: the plants cool the panels, helping them generate energy more efficiently, while the metal structures provide the vegetation with a bit of shade during scorching summer days. It is an intelligent, nature-friendly system that fits perfectly with the spirit of Avrig.
